Information: 2-CAR COLLISION KILLS GIVEN MAN - RIPLEY - A two-car collision on W. Va. 44 between W. Va. 2 and Cottageville late Saturday night killed a 29-year-old Given, Jackson County, man and sent another man to the hospital.  According to Sheriff W. C. Chancey, John S. Boggess was attempting to pass another car on a hill when he met an auto driven by Sewell Ryan of Ripley.  Boggess swerved back into the lane in an attempt to avoid a collision but his vehicle struck the other auto.  Boggess apparently was killed outright and Ryan suffered minor injuries.  Ryan was treated and kept overnight at Preddy Hospital at Ravenswood.  Both cars were listed as a total loss.      Boggess was a veteran of the Korean War, a member of Ripley VFW Post No. 5501 and a member of Ravenswood Moose Lodge.  Surviving are his father, Addie Boggess of Given; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Kellar of Charleston and Miss Ida M. Boggess of Given; six brothers, Laco of Sissonville, Arnold of Hurricane, Freeman and Elbe, both of Cleveland, Ohio, Hillard of Kenna and Wendill of Rochester, Pa; and his grandfather, J. S. Koontz of Kenna.  Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Emma Chapel of Ripley.  Burial will be in Emma Chapel Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour before service by Vail Funeral Home of Ripley.
