Information: William Lafayette Rector, 88 year old Sherman, Grant district, citizen, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. W. Flinn, in Parkersburg last Thursday after an illness of something like two weeks which was caused by an attack of broncial pneumonia. He had been in very poor health for sometime and had spent the winter with his daughter at her home in that city. He was a well known citizen of the county and his many friends were shocked when the news of his death reached them. Mr. Rector was born in Burning Springs, West Virginia, a son of Levin L. and Sarah B. Rector. He was engaged in the lumber business and was known throughout the state. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge at Ravenswood, having been a member for 46 years. He was united in marriage to Eliza Jane Rankin, who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. J. W. Flinn and Mrs. Abner Price, of Parkersburg, Mrs. Frank D. Fleming, of Ravenswood, and Mrs. Clarence Polk, of Portland, Ohio; a son, Ernest Rector, of Parkersburg; three sisters, Mrs. Thomas Highland of Parkersburg, Mrs. Blanche Hutchinson, of Akron, Ohio, and Mrs. Virginia Safreed, of Sherman; 25 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
