Information: Dorothy McCoy Rector, 84, of 101 Virginia Street, Ravenswood, died April 12, 1993 at her home.  The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fremont McCoy, she was born December 27, 1908 at Cottageville.  She attended school in Cottageville and graduated from Ravenswood High School in 1927.  She obtained her bachelor and master degrees from Marshall University, before serving as a teacher and principal in Jackson County for 25 years.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and charter member of Friends of the Library, as well as being an active participant in many other community and educational organizations.  Surviving:  husband of 65 years, W. K. Rector; son, Bill of Miami, Fla.; daughters, Mrs. Bill (Connie) Ritchie of Ravenswood and Mrs. Allen (Nancy) Short of Vincent, Ohio; brother, Ralston (Ronnie) McCoy of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.  Services are to be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Dan Hogan officiating.  Burial will be in Ravenswood Cemetery.  Friends may call at Straight-Tucker Funeral Home Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and one hour prior to services.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church or to the charity of your choice.
