Information: Born July 26, 1928 at Staats Mill, Jackson County, West Virginia, the son of the late Herbert J. and Lula Tincher Rawlings died Thursday, Aug. 21, 1997 at CAMC Charleston Memorial Hospital following a short illness.  He was employed by the FBI as a fingerprint technician and was retired from Kaiser Aluminum with 32 years of service and Jackson County Commission with 18 years of service, which during this time, 1970-1988, the county farm complex, the health department complex, two public libraries, and a senior citizen center were all built.  In addition, he served as past president of the County Commissioners Association of West Virginia.  He was a Korean War Veteran, Graduate of Ripley High School Class of 1947, past president of Ripley Jaycees, served on the City of Ripley Park Commission, Mill Creek Watershed Committee, Western Soil Conservation District as supervisior, Jackson General Hospital board of directors, Jackson County Housing Authority, past president of Board of Trustees of Calvary United Methodist Church of Ripley, member of Calvary United Methodist Church and Men's Fellowship Group, Rotary Club of Ripley, building committee of Jackson County, Assistant Sargent of Arms of the Senate, member of the VFW of Ripley and past president of the P.R.I.D.E. Group of Jackson County.  He is survived by wife, Lena Winters Rawlings of Ripley; three daughters, Susie Povick of Sissonville, Janet Hall of Ripley, Linda Williams of Huntington; son, Rick of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren; sons-in-law, Ron Povick, Alan Hall, Tony Williams and daughter-in-law, Robin Igo Rawlings.  Visitation will be Saturday (today) at Calvary United Methodist Church, 205 Court St., Ripley, WV, from 1:30-9:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 24, one hour prior to funeral service.  Funeral service will be Sunday, August 24, at 2:00 p.m. at the Calvary Church with the Rev. Hubert Groves, officiating.  Burial will be at the Fairplain Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be made to the Calvary Church Building Fund.  Parsons-Waybright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
