Information: George R. Rawlings, 72, of South Charleston died Sept. 20, 1992 at Memorial Division, CAMC, after a long illness. He was a member of Charleston Mountain Mission, a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, recipient of the Purple Heart for service on Guadalcanal, charter member of Chapter 419 of Military Order of Purple Heart and Disabled American Veterans, native of Jackson County, a former self-employed contractor and he was retired from West Virginia State Health Department with 20 years' service. Surviving: wife, Mary Brotherton Rawlings; sons, G. Michael of St. Albans, Patrick M. of Charleston; sister Vada Shamblen of Spring Hill, Fla.; brothers, Franklin of Cross Lanes, Stanley of Ripley; five grandchildren; two step-granddaughters. Service will be 11:00 am today (Wednesday) at Casdorph-Curry Funeral Home, St. Albans, with the Rev. Clarence Edens and the Rev. Charles Scragg officiating. Burial will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. Donations may be made to Mountain Mission Christmas Basket Fund, 1620 Seventh Ave., Charleston, WVa. 25312.
