Information:                 James W. Raines, 85 year old resident of Kenna who was generally known as “Uncle Jim”, died at the home of his son, C. B. Raines at Kenna on Sunday.  The funeral service was held at the home Monday afternoon with the Rev. James Anderson in charge and the burial was in the Raines Cemetery.  He was born August 1, 1862, departed this life March 27, 1949.  He was united in marriage to Sarah Fields in 1881 and she preceded him in death on May 29, 1933.  They had six children.  Surviving are the following children, Bailey B. Raines and C. Boyd Raines, both of Kenna, Harrison Raines of Liverpool, Mrs. M. J. (Emma) Kinser of Ripley, Mrs. W. Hent Gandee of Charleston and Mrs. Abe Redman of Kenna; one step-son, Alpha Good of Kentuck; two brothers, Abe L. Raines of Evans and Ben Raines of Given, and two sisters, Mrs. Nancy Livingston of Given and Mrs. Martha Anderson of Kenna, and 51 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.  Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.  (from the Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection)
