Obituary Date: 1914-12-04

Information: Mr. George W. Raines, Civil War veteran, died at 11 o'clock Wednesday night, age 71 years.  His death was due to pneumonia.  Mr. Raines joined the Union Army in 1861 and served throughout the war, including several months with Ewing's famous battery.  He was severely wounded at Winchester, Virginia in 1864.  Deceased is survived by his second wife, four sons and three daughters.  The remains were taken to Stone Lick where they will be interred today.   (from the Betty Kessel McIntyre collection)
