Information:                Funeral services for David H. Raines, 79, of Ravenswood, who died in a Spencer hospital last Tuesday evening, were held from the Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer on Friday afternoon with the Rev. Gillett and Rev. Gordon Withers officiating and the body was taken to the Gandeeville Cemetery in Roane County for burial.  He was born in Roane County, son of the late Joseph Raines and Lydia Harper Raines.  He was first married to Miss Ollie Reed, who died about 30 years ago.  He then married Miss Maggie Hopkins, who died two years ago.  For many years Mr. Raines had lived in Jackson County, at Kenna, Ripley and Ravenswood, and was well known throughout this area of the state.  Surviving are seven children, all by his first wife, including four daughters, Mrs. G. W. Garrett of Spencer; Mrs. Virgie Blackwell of Frame; Mrs. W. R.  Rader of Ripley, and Mrs. George Burton Crow of Ripley; three sons, Lester and Wilmer Raines, both of Akron, Ohio, and Joseph Raines of Barberton, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Rachel Cox of Breeman, Ohio, Mrs. Mary Mitchell of Clendenin and Mrs. Sarah Jones of Ravenswood.  (Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection)
