Information: Nathan Chester Pyatt, 80, of Belpre, OH, died December 11, 1998, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born in Sandyville WV, on Sept. 16, 1918, a son of the late Edward W. and Amy Throckmorton Pyatt. He was an Army veteran, having landed on Omaha Beach, fought at the Battle of the Bulge and liberated Paris. He retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways. Following the war, he owned Riffe & Pyatt Service Station and also owned the Pyatt Motor Sales for several years. He was a life member of the FOE (Elks) Lodge #198, Post 15 of the American Legion, Parkersburg and the Eagles. Survivors include two sons, James E. Pyatt of Veto and Kendall D. Pyatt of Dallas, TX; two daughters, Patricia I. Jenkins of Cairo, and D. Jean Lanzarotto of Jacksonville FL; one brother, E. L. Pyatt of Layman OH; one sister, Evelyn Shatto of Sandyville; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Ross and Frances Pyatt; and three sisters, Nellie Houchen, Lucy McKitrick and Mary Beagle. Services were held Sunday, December 13, 1998 at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor Jim Yoak officiating. Burial in Fairview Cemetery, Belpre. Military graveside services were conducted by Post 15 of the American Legion.
