Information: Carl R. Pursley, 81, of Ripley, passed away February 24, 2012 at his home following an extended illness. He was born August 4, 1930 in Ripley, a son of the late Basil R. and Mary I. (Smith) Pursley. Brothers, Austin Pursley and Wiliam Pursley, and a sister, Fay Pursley, also preceded him in death. He was a retired welder from Teledyne, Inc., Cleveland OH. Following his retirement he returned home to Ripley and worked as a brick mason's assistant for Pursley Brothers Builders. He is survived by his wife, Doris Duke Pursley; stepsons, Michael Duke and his wife, Rebecca of Clemmons NC and David and his wife, Dawn Duke of Fairmont; stepdaughter, Heather Duke Casto and her husband, Kip, of Moncks Corner SC; brothers and their wives, Jim and Twila Pursley and Creed and Ann Pursley, all of Ripley; sisters, Barbara Justice and her husband Jerry of Ripley, and Mary Ellen Baker of Lisbon OH; step-grandchildren, Elizabeth Murray, Christia Casto, Amanda, Abigail, Mack, Cade, and Wyatt Duke; step-great-grandchildren, Arilynn, Nathaniel and William Murray, and Harlee Watts; and several nieces and nephews. Service will be 2 pm Monday, February 27, 2012, at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans WV, with the Rev. Lee Randolph officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Leroy.
