Information: DEATH CLAIMS FORMER MAYOR - Sterling L. Pullen, 75, of Klondyke Road, Ripley, died Saturday at Jackson General Hospital after a long illness.  Mr. Pullen was a former Ripley mayor, serving one term from 1961-63.  He was born in Ritchie County, a son of the late Seldon and Ida Means Pullen.  He was a sub-jobber for 38 years in the Roane and Jackson County area and better known as ""The Candy Man"". In recent years, he was associated with the McClure Company of Charleston.  He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.  He is survived by his wife, Betty Armstead Pullen; one son, Sterling L. Pullen, Jr. of Sandyville; two stepsons, Garold Simons, Jr. of Spencer and Thomas Simons of New Bern, N.C.; four daughters, Mary Sue Skeen and Sara Pullen, both of Ripley, Barbara Cable of Hendersonville, N. C., Beverly Overton of Tampa, Fla.; three stepdaughters, Vicki Stephens and Tammy Jones, both of Ravenswood, Terry Bess of Kenna; one brother, John Pullen of Tacoma, Wash.; one sister, Neva Neff of Hendersonville, N.C.; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.  Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Vail Funeral Home, Ripley, with the Rev. Basil Hensley officiating. Burial was in the Pine Hill Cemetery.
