Information: George W. Pringle, retired minister of Cottageville, died Tuesday following an illness of many months caused from cancer. He was born at Fairplain, November 20, 1858, and when but a young man took up the profession of teaching, in which he was most successful, and many men who have made a success in their lives ascribe much of their start to the solid ground work laid by him. He was married September 20, 1885 to Miss Cora A. Fisher who with the following children survive him: Eva Belle, Floyd Monroe, Clara, Leah, and Georgia. One child, Exerva Mae, died November 20, 1918. He professed Christianity early in life and united with the United Brethran church at Fairplain. He entered the ministry on February 2, 1899, and was one of the leading figures of his denomination in this section of the state until the time of his death. He served as pastor of the United Brethren church at Thirteen, New Haven, Cottageville on two different occasions, Buffalo and Point Pleasant. At the conference of his church at Parkersburg in 1908, he was elected presiding elder of the Huntington district and held that position for four years, at which time he retired from active work in the ministry. The funeral was held at Cottageville this (Thursday) afternoon and interment made in the Rhodes Cemetery at that place. During his various pastorates he endeared himself to the members of his congregations and by his genial personality and good fellowship, entered into the hearts of all those with whom he came in contact. He was a preacher of rare eloquence, broad minded and human. He was capable of performing great good for humanity and for his church. In his death, the United Brethren denomination loses one of its most brilliant ministers and the Christian faith one of its most devout and unselfish servants.
