Information: YOUTH IS KILLED BY LIGHTNING - PRINGLE BOY KILLED WHEN NEAR HIS HOME - George Pringle, the 15-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Pringle of Wilding and the grandson and namesake of the late Rev. George Pringle of Cottageville and during his ministry one of the leaders of the United Brethren denomination, was instantly killed by lightning last Thursday afternoon when only a short distance from the family home. According to neighbors of the family, the boy had gone to get a horse in the field about the time the storm broke or a little before and had returned with the horse and had started back to look about some turkeys. He was in the open field at the time and after the rain began to fall the mother walked out on the porch to see what became of the boy and saw his prostrate body not far from the house. A brother went to investigate and found that he was dead. The Pringle boy is the first person to be struck by lightning in this section of the state this year and is the first for Jackson county in some time. The body was taken to the Palmer funeral home in Ravenswood and prepared for burial and relatives throughout the state were notified of the tragedy Thursday afternoon. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Otterbein and burial was in the cemetery there. The parents and several brothers and sisters survive.
