Death Notice:

Obituary Date: 1935-12-06

Information: A fall in which she suffered severe injuries last Wednesday afternoon proved fatal to Mrs. Sarah Davis Price, 88 year old resident of Cottageville, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lottie Gilpin, shortly after the noon hour Friday.  Death was not unexpected. {She was the daughter of Elijah and Mirinda Hupp Davis}   Mrs. Price fell on Wednesday while walking about the house and physicians said that she fractured the bones in her hip.  The seriousness of her injury and her advanced age gave little hope to members of the family after the extent of her injuries were known. She was born September 27, 1847 and at the time of her death was 88 years, 2 months and 2 days. She had been a member of the Cottageville United Brethren church for many years and was a well known resident of that section of the county.  She is survived by three daughters:  Mrs. Bertha Parsons of Columbus, Ohio, Cora Gatchel and Lottie Gilpin, both of Cottageville.  The funeral services were held at the Cottageville United Brethren church last Sunday afternoon with Rev. S. J. Westfall, pastor of the church, delivering the funeral oration.  Lawrence M. Ford, funeral director, had general charge of the arrangements.  Interment was in the Blaine Memorial cemetery here. {She was the widow of Abraham Price 1844-1916, son of Hiram and Temperence Casto Price}   [from the Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection]
