Information: Hoyt O. Powers, 86, of Parkersburg, died Sept. 6, 1987 in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.  He was born in Statts Mill, a son of the late Thomas and Mollie Flinn Powers.  He was an employee of C & P Telephone Co., Charleston, later retiring from the Beckley office as district plant supervisor, following 31 years of service.  He had taught school in Jackson County and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.  He was also a member of First Baptist Church.  He is survived by his wife, Pauline Casto Powers; one son, Keith W. Powers of Parkersburg; his stepmother, Laura Powers of Ripley; six grandchildren, Lynn Alms and Anne Hood, both of Pittsburgh, Pa., Steven Alms and Martha Jo Strohmaier, both of California, and Pamela Powers and Janette Powers, both of Parkersburg; three great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lucille Alms; and three brothers.  Services were held Wednesday at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Phillip Newhart officiating. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
