Information: Gladys Davis Polk, 84, of Route 1, Murraysville, died Friday, May 29, 1987, in Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, following an extended illness. She was born in Nicholas County, a daughter of the late Henry B. and Rosetta Bays Davis. She was a member of Coleman Methodist Chapel, Murraysville, where she served as Sunday School teacher and a youth counselor. She was a retired schoolteacher in Jackson County and had taught 17 years at Ravenswood High School, retiring in 1970. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa, the International Sorority for Women Educators, National Retired Teachers Association, the Association of Retired School Employees, past president of Jackson County Classroom Teachers, former member and officer of the Business and Professional Woman's Club of Ravenswood. She is survived by two sons, Richard Polk and Louie Polk, both of Murraysville; one sister, Mary Logan of Norwark, Conn.; two brothers, Wendell C. Davis of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Arlington Davis of Parkersburg; two granddaughters, LaPaige Polk and Kelly Elizabeth Polk, both of Murraysville; one grandson, Richie Polk of Murraysville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clair C., in 1981; one sister and one brother. Services were Monday at the Straight-Tucker Funeral Home, Ravenswood. Burial was in Ravenswood Cemetery.
