Information: Amy P. Pilkenton, 47, of Granite Falls, North Carolina, died Friday, August 24, 2012 at Hospice and Palliative Care of Catawba County, North Carolina.  Amy was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia on June 7, 1965 to Paul and Ida Sweeney Palmer of Windy Ridge, Wirt County, West Virginia.  She attended Pee Wee Elementary, a two-room grade school, and was a 1983 graduate of Wirt County High School, Elizabeth, West Virginia.  She was employed by the Ripley Sewing Factory for several years before moving to North Carolina to be closer to her siblings.  She worked in the furniture industry in NC, and was employed by the Charles Stewart Company where she met her soulmate.  Amy and Richard Darian Pilkenton were married September 22, 2007.  Amy was a member of Mountain Grove Baptist Church of Granite Falls NC.  She loved to travel and enjoyed several trips to Savannah and Tybee Island GA and also to the Pigeon Forge-Gatlinburg area of TN.        In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by her step daughter, Kristen Pilkenton, of the home; mother-in-law, Sherry Pilkenton of Granite Falls NC; sister, Lois Palmer of Mount Airy NC; brother, Mark (Cheryl) Palmer of Mount Airy NC; and four nieces, Shandi Gee of Sherrills Ford NC, Kerri Beth Ghee of Ripley WV, Abigail Ghee and Nakita Palmer, both of Mount Airy NC.  Amy was preceded in death by a brother, Matthew Palmer in 1968, and both maternal and paternal grandparents.  Memorial services will be held at Medina Community Church on Medina Road, Sandyville WV, conducted by Rev. Bud McVey on September 8, 2012 at 11 am.  The family will receive friends after the services at the fellowship hall.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Amy's name to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, 5526 West 13400 South, #510, Salt Lake City, Utah 84096.  Donations may also be made at http://www.cholangiocarcinoma.org/donate.htm.
