Information: Funeral services for Mrs. Mary C. Pickens, 77 years old, were held from the Palmer Funeral Home in Ravenswood Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock and the body was taken to the Ravenswood Cemetery for interment.  Mrs. Pickens, who was the widow of the late R. B. Pickens, of Silverton, died at 5:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Madge Rothermel in Columbus, Ohio.  She had been ill for several months.  She died Jan. 27, 1940.  Mrs. Pickens, who was a daughter of the late Elias Stone, was born near Ripley 77 years ago last October.  In 1882 she married R. B. Pickens and they lived at the farm near Silverton until the husband died about six years ago.  She is survived by three daughters and two sons, one of them being Paul Pickens, who was appointed as postmaster at Ravenswood last week.  One brother, J. B. Stone, of Ripley, also survives. [Herald, Feb. 2, 1940] Mrs. Pickens, the daughter of Elias and Ollie Ann Stone, was born Oct. 25, 1862 in Ripley district.  She was united in marriage to R. B. Pickens on May 23, 1882.  To this union nine children were born, five of whom survive:  Mrs. Ollie E. Cayton, Mrs. Gladys Webb, Mrs. Madge P. Rothernel, Paul Pickens, and R. Douglas Pickens.  Four children preceded her in death, three in infancy, and John Grover Pickens in 1938.  She is survived by one brother, J. B.
