  <p>Information: Gussie Bryan ""Gus"" Pickens, 68, of Sandyville, died Thursday in Jackson General Hospital, after a short illness. He was born in Jackson County, a son of the late Samuel and Bertha Godbey Pickens. He was retired from O. Ames Co., Parkersburg, and was a veteran of World War II.  Survivors include his wife, Vesta Pickens; two sons, Charles of Parkersburg, Dennis of Sandyville; one daughter, Sharon Staats of Sandyville; one step-daughter, Jean Pursley of Sandyville; one brother, Darrell of Given; four sisters, Thelma Haynes of Ripley, Audrey Barnett of Rockcastle, Naomi Flesher of Fairplain, Parmalee Edens of St. Albans; one granddaughter, Susan, whom he raised, and eight grandchildren.  Services were to be today (Saturday) at 2 p.m. at Vail Funeral Home, Ripley, with the Rev. Clarence Edens and the Rev. Jay Waggoner officiating.  Burial was to be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley.</p>
