Information: Funeral services were held Saturday morning for Mrs. Bess Pfost of 307 Court Street, Ripley, who died Wednesday morning at Jackson General Hospital after a lengthy illness.  She was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, having served in the choir and on the Sunday School staff.  She also belonged to United Methodist Women and the American Legion Auxiliary.  A native Jackson countian, she was active in the Republican Party.  She was a former school teacher and also served as city recorder for the city of Ripley, having been appointed to the position.  Mrs. Pfost was the daughter of the late Leander and Jessie B. Miller.  She was preceded in death by her husband, H. F. Pfost, prominent Ripley banker, and by a grandson, Joseph Pfost, Jr. of Hastings, Minn.  Survivors include three sons, Joseph F. of Hastings, Minn., Francis M. of Dunedin, Fla., Dr. John J. Pfost of Charleston; two brothers, Ripley mayor, John W. Miller and Starling Miller of Ravenswood; five sisters, Mrs. Ray Kessel of Ripley, Mrs. Russel Kessel, Mrs. Edith Wolfe and Mrs. Glenn Lilly, all of Charleston, Mrs. Earl McGraw of Hinton; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.  The Rev. Ronald R. Brooks officiated at funeral services at Parsons Funeral Home.  Burial was at Pine Hill Cemetery.
