Information: MILLWOOD WOMAN, GRANDSON ARE KILLED IN ROUTE 2 CRASH - Joint funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Ravenswood Gospel Tabernacle for Mrs. Treva Cottrell Petry, 43, of Millwood, and her four-year-old grandson, William Eugene Buckbee, Jr., both of whom were killed Thursday afternoon on Rt. 2 South in Parkersburg. The Rev. Emmitt Adkins officiated with burial in Drift Run Cemetery at Drift Run. Chambers Funeral Home of Ravenswood was in charge of arrangements. The Buckbee child was the son of William Eugene and Shirley Petry Buckbee, of Hampton, Va. Injured in the accident and hospitalized was William's mother, Shirley Ann, 25, who was listed in fair condition at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg. Two counts of involuntary manslaghter were placed Friday against Frank Swiger, 63, Parkersburg, as a result of the two-car collision. Justice of the Peace Carl Brookover, Jr., set bond at $3000 for each count and scheduled a preliminary hearing for May 22. A charge of driving while under the influence of alcohol was filed against Swiger, Thursday. Mrs. Petry was born in Braxton County, daughter of Bertha Bennett Cottrell of Sharples and the late Annise Cottrill and attended the Second Baptist Church in Ravenswood. Her survivors include one daughter, Shirley Petry Buckbee of Hampton, Va.; five sons, Donald W. Petry of Parkersburg, Andy...of Newport News, Va., Robert Dale and Roger Lee, both of Summersville and Jackie Allen of Millwood; one sister, Eva Francis of Thermopolis, Wyo.; five brothers, Darrell Cottrell of Sharples, James Cottrell of Madison, Woodrow of Cleveland, Ohio, Delmar of Charleston and Kenneth of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. The four-year-old child, William Eugene Buckbee, Jr., in addition to his parents, is survived by grandparents............and Rose Buckbee of Ravenswood and Reed Alonzo Petry of Summersville.
