Information: MRS. PENCE, 101, DEAD, HAS 240 SURVIVORS - Mrs. Mahala Gandee Pence, who would have been 101 years old on February 27, died Tuesday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Blanche Snodgrass at Clover, Roane county, with whom she had been making her home.  Mrs. Pence leaves 240 survivors, a number of whom are residents of Jackson county.  Among them is Mrs. Sybil Winter of Ripley, who is a niece.  She was born February 27, 1862, the daughter of James and Mary Leforce Gandee.  Her grandmother, Mrs. Massie Hughes, was the daughter of Jesse Hughes, the famous Indian scout.  Mrs. Pence was a member of the Danner Advent Christian Church and a charter member of the Women's Home Foreign Missionary Society of Clover.      Also surviving are two sons, Roy R. of Gandeeville and Ross of Walton; two other daughters, Mrs. W. E. Raines of Gandeeville, and Mrs. Glen Hunt of New Brighton, Pa.; a sister, Mrs. Stella Ferrell of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two half-sisters, Mrs. George Price of Cicerone and Mrs. Leah Cooper of Akron, Ohio; four half-brothers, Homer Gandee, Sherman, Warren, Fred and Claude Gandee, all of Akron, Ohio;  52 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.  The funeral service was held on Friday with Carl Morris officiating and the burial was in the Gandeeville cemetery.
