Information: Grandma Payne (Mrs. Mary Stansbury Payne, born in Wetzel county, age 63 in 1880 Jackson county census), widow of Levi Payne, perhaps the oldest lady in the county, died Tuesday afternoon at the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. D. W. Knopp, near Frozen Camp, aged 98 years and six months.  (D. W. Knopp's wife was Elizabeth Payne Knopp, age 29 in 1880 Jackson Co. census).  She was a remarkable woman, mother of twelve children, four of whom survive.  Her mind was strong until the hour of her death.  More than 400 people attended the funeral held Thursday afternoon.  (McIntyre)
