Information: Sarah Madaline Parsons, 89, of Ripley, died Aug. 5, 1994, at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, after an extended illness. She was born in Ripley, a daughter of the late Dr. Virgil and Mollie Skidmore Casto. She attended Marshall University and was a graduate from Morris Harvey College. She retired as a school teacher from the Jackson County school system after 35 years of service. She was a charter member of the Ripley Women's Club, Jackson County Historical Society and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a volunteer at Jackson General Hospital, a life member of the Calvary United Methodist Church and had served in many positions. She and her husband had the honor of being the first couple to be married in the church. Surviving are one son, Col. Robert K. Parsons of Charleston; two daughters, Mollie C. Casto of Belpre and Nancy P. Wilson of Ravenswood who is asistant principal at Ripley High School; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. King Parsons, and one brother, Dr. Wendell Casto. Services were Tuesday at Calvary United Methodist Church, Dan Hogan officiating. Burial was in Fairplain Cemetery. Parsons Funeral Home, Ripley, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials preferred to the Jackson County Library or the Calvary United Methodist Church.
