Information: Junior Burton Parsons, 91, of Ripley, WV, passed away March 13, 2016, in the Ravenswood Care Center. He was born November 13, 1924, in Kenna, WV, and was the son of the late Russell Cleo and Emma Macil Casto Parsons. His wife, Joyce Coleman Parsons, and his grandmother, who raised him, Cora Randolph also preceded him in death. Burton was a World War II United States Army veteran and served with the 717th Tank Battalion. He was retired lathe operator and carpenters assistant, and enjoyed woodworking, antiques and attending flea markets. He and his late wife, Joyce attended and participated in many arts and crafts fairs. He was a member of the West Ripley Baptist Church. Survivors include his sons, Russell B. Parsons of Parkersburg and Robert B. Parsons (Rosalie) of Little Hocking, OH, step-daughter, Diana Barnes (James) of Buckner, MO; step- grandchildren, Christopher Smeeks (Tanya) and Adam Smeeks (Wendi) and step-great grandchildren, Colin, Kaden, Elijah, Lilyn, Justin and Jason. Service will be 7 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans, WV, with Pastor Jack Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Committal service will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 18, at the Fairplain Cemetery with military honors provided by the Jackson County Honor Guard.
