Information: Ethlyn Parsons, 74, of Ripley, died Friday, October 28, 2005, at Willis Knighton Blossier Hospital in Bossier City, LA following an extended illness. Ethlyn was born September 2, 1931, the daughter of the late Frederick Wade Don and Marion Ethlyn Goodman Parsons. She was a graduate of Ripley High School Class of 1949 and was retired from the Bureau of Public Debt in Ravenswood and Parkersburg with 30 years of service. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, GFWC Woman's Club of Ripley, Pilot Club of Jackson County, 4-H All Stars of Jackson County, Main Street Ripley, Jackson County Historical Society and the WV Room of the Ripley Library. Survivors include several nieces, nephews and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Sunny Parsons. Ethlyn's wishes were for direct cremation and a memorial service to follow at a later date. Parsons-Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, is in charge of arrangements. MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR ETHLYN PARSONS SET FOR NOV. 18. - A memorial service for the late Ethlyn Parsons is scheduled for Friday, November 18, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church, Ripley, with Rev. Dr. Ken Krimmel officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church, 299 Church Street, Ripley WV 25271; Ripley Library, 208 N. Church Street, Ripley and Jackson County Historical Society, P. O. Box 22, Ripley. Ethlyn was a devoted daughter to her mother throughout her illness and was a spirited community volunteer who gave willingly of her time and talents in a manner which benefited and reached many people. She will be missed by all who knew her!
