Information: SPC Ryan David Blake, 29, of Charleston, left this earth on Tuesday, February 12, 2013. He was born October 20, 1983 in Baytown, Texas. He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Elmer Blake, maternal grandfather, Raymond Bush; and maternal grandmother, Helen Bush; friends, Samuel Postlethwaite and Michael Motes. Ryan attended Ripley High School and graduated from Marshall University in 2012. He was a communications specialist with the 2nd/19th Special Forces Group in Kenova. He was also attached to the Joint Operations Center in Charleston. Survivors include his loving son, Samuel Michael Blake, and Sam's mother, Caitlin Dean, of Ravenswood; his father, Terry Blake; mother and stepfather, Stephen and Kimberly Fowler of Charleston; one brother, Matthew Daniel Blake of Charleston; one step brother, Pierce Fowler of Denver, Colo.; paternal grandmother, Thelma Blake of Columbia SC; many relatives and friends; and his comrades of the 2nd/19th Special Forces Group and JOC. Graveside service with military honors provided by 2nd/19th Special Forces Group and the West Virginia National Guard, will be held Saturday, February 16, at 1 p.m. at Jackson County Memory Gardens, Ripley Road, Cottageville, with Chaplain Major Robert Hudson and the Rev. Bill G. Fowler officiating. Burial will follow at the cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wilson Funeral Home, 420 Lee St. W., Charleston.
