Information: Mrs. Minerva Parr, one of the pioneer women of Jackson county, passed away at the Parr homestead, Willow Grove, December 16, after a long and active life of 88 years. Mrs. Parr was the daughter of Edward and Hannah McDade, and was born on a farm about two miles from Letart, Ohio, where she spent her girlhood days. Adjacent to the McDade farm at Letart was the Parr estate owned by one of the pioneer families of northern Ohio and on April 11, 1854, Nathan Parr and Minerva McDade were united in marriage. Soon after their marriage they moved to the present Parr estate at Willow Grove, and to this union was born the following children: Mrs. Charles McMaster, Ambler, Oklahoma, H. A. Parr, Great Bend, Ohio, Isaac H. Parr, Saxon, Ohio, Miss Emma Parr and Jerome V. Parr , Willow Grove, Mrs. S. H. Maguire and Margaret Ella Parr, deceased. Mrs. Parr also left seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. For thirty three years Nathan Parr made yearly excursions down the Ohio river to New Orleans with his farm produce, which in the early days was the only available outlet for the farmers of that section After living to see his farm intersected by the Ohio River Railroad, Mr. Parr died July 9, 1901. In 1846, At the age of eleven years, Mrs. Parr joined the Methodist Episcopal Church at Letart, where she was an active member, having to travel ten miles by boat to reach the church after moving to West Virginia. Mrs. Parr was buried from the same little village although the original church which she joined has long (rest of obit unreadable)
