Information: Ten year old William Billie Painter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sattis O. Painter of Dunbar, and formerly of Given, died Thursday morning and the cause of death was reported to be rabies. He was bitten 17 days ago by his pet dog. State Health Department tests of the dog proved positive for rabies. Billie immediately started receiving Pasteur treatments, and had taken several shots of preventive medicine, but his condition became critical Wednesday morning and he was rushed to a South Charleston hospital. Billie was the youngest of four children in the family. Besides the parents, he is survived by two sisters, Bertha Louise and Emma Genevieve, and a brother, Doyle Eugene, all at home; and the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Stone of Robertsburgh and Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Painter of Given. The funeral service was held Saturday afternoon at the Mt. Zion Church near Rockcastle with the Rev. Charles Scraggs and Rev. Milton Hayes officiating, and the burial was in the church cemetery. (Betty Kessel McIntyre obit collection)
