Information: Mrs. Fred H. O'Brien died of anemia in a hospital at Huntington on Monday.  The remains were brought to Ripley Tuesday where they were met by a number of Eastern Stars who marched in a body to the home.  She was laid to rest in the Pine Hill Cemetery Wednesday.  Mrs. O'Brien was born at Red Knob, Roane County, July 22, 1898, making her age slightly past the 25th year.  She was the daughter of Dr. F. W. Casto.  Her father preceded her to the great beyond several years ago.  Mrs. O'Brien was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and also a member of the secret orders of Eastern Star and Pythian Sisters.  She leaves to mourn their loss a husband, mother, Mrs. Emma Casto, two sisters, Mesdames J. W. Kerwood and J. O. Casto, and an infant son.  Funeral services were held at the home of her pastor, A. C. Riffe, assisted by Revs. Rainey and H. K. Riffe.  The rest of the services were under the auspices of the Eastern Star.   (from the collection of Betty Kessel McIntyre)
