Information: Herbert ""Herb"" Eugene Norris, 85, of Vienna, died Thursday, April 30, 2009, in The Arbors, Marietta.  He was born in Cottageville, Jackson County, W. Va., a son of the late Murvin and Clara Herdman Norris.  Herb was a Jan. 12, 1942 graduate of Parkersburg High School.  He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II with service at Guadalcanal in the South Pacific.  He served as an aviation machinist mate and was a member of the U. S. Naval Institute.  Herb was previously employed as an electronics technician at both Vienna TV and Moats TV.  He was a songwriter and poet and was the writer of a song used on the popular TV show, ""The Guiding Light"".      He is survived by a sister-in-law, Margaret C. Norris of Vienna; several cousins and many friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Roy E. Norris in 1995; and two sisters, Lou Messick in 2007 and Jessie Norris in 2005.  Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Vaughan Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. David Carpenter officiating.  Burial will follow in the Blaine Memorial Cemetery, Cottageville, with full military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 107, Ripley.  The family will receive friends from 1 - 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.  For those considering an expression of sympathy, memorials are requested to the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department.  A guestbook for sharing online condolences is available at www.vaughanfh.com.
