  <p>Information: Betty Jean Newell, 74, of New Haven WV, departed this life November 13, 2002, in Pleasant Valley Hospital, Point Pleasant, following a brief illness.  She was born June 15, 1928, in Cottageville WV, a daughter of the late Henry Elmer and Bedie Alice Thornton Sayre.  She was a homemaker.  Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie and Belinda Newell of Letart; daughter, Linda Crump of New Haven; one brother, Waldo Sayre of Toledo OH; two sisters, Macel Hoschar and Chloie Sharp, both of Cottageville; three grandchildren, Kellie Hoffman of Huntington, Devin Newell of New Haven, and Aubrey Newell of Letart; one great-grandchild, Dylan Hoffman of Huntington.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey V. Newell; brothers, Thornton Sayre and Raymond Sayre; and sister, Ida Livingston.  Graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 15, at the Otterbein Cemetery, Evans, with Rev. Rankin Roach officiating.  Arrangements were by Casto Funeral Home, Evans WV.  In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to your favorite charity.</p>
