  <p>Information: John Ernest Nelson, 79, of Ravenswood, died Friday, March 27, 1987, in Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, following a long illness.  He was born in Jackson County, a son of the late James and Delle Jones Nelson.  He was a member of the Comet United Methodist Church, Sandyville, and was retired from West Virginia Department of Highways.  He is survived by his wife, Lura Doughty Nelson; one daughter, Lucille Maple of Martinsville, Ohio; two sons, Ernest Nelson of Sandyville and Charles Nelson of Ravenswood; two brothers, Charles Nelson of Canal Fulton, Ohio and Enos Nelson of Chesire, Ohio; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.  Services were Sunday at Straight-Tucker Funeral Home, Ravenswood, with the Rev. Darrell Johnson officiating.  Burial was in Ravenswood Cemetery.</p>
