Information: Ripley resident Clarence Franklin Myers, 84, died Saturday afternoon at his home on Parkersburg Road.  He had been hospitalized at Jackson General Hospital since Monday, but had returned to his home Saturday morning.  He had been in failing health the past year.  Mr. Myers was a teacher for a total of 20 years.  He served as county superintendent of schools in Jackson County from 1937 through 1940.  He was a former sheriff of Jackson County serving 1937 to 1940.  He established an insurance and real estate firm in Ripley and was active in the business until his retirement.   Mr. Myers was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher for 25 years.  He also served as trustee of the church.  He was a member of the Ripley Masonic Lodge 16.  Surviving are two sons, Clarence Donald Myers and Jack Wendell Myers, both of Ripley; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Golda, in May 1976.  The Rev. Ronald Brooks officiated at the funeral service Monday afternoon at Epworth United Methodist Church.  Burial was in Otterbein Cemetery at Evans.  Vail Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.  NOTE:  He was born in Jackson County on February 24, 1894, a son of the late Samuel and Ada Mayers.  He married Golda Dorthy Cox of Cottageville on November 30, 1916.
