Information: REV. MUNDAY DIES APRIL 1- Rev. J. R. Munday, 87 years old, who for many years served in the southern part of the county as a minister of the Adventist church and widely known and beloved by many died on Tuesday, April 2 at his home on Middle Fork. Rev. Munday was born on May 29, 1850 and at the time of his death was 87 years, 10 months and 3 days old. He joined the Adventist church in the year of 1880, answered a call to preach the gospel and served his church faithfully until death. He is survived by a son, Joseph Albert Munday of Dunbar; four daughters, Floria Siders of Dunbar, Myrtle Brillhart of Sissonville, Minnie Farrel of Mason county and Miss Esta Munday of Advent; twenty grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, April 3, with Rev. James C. Fisher of Sissonville officiating. Burial was in the Covey cemetery near his home. Rev. Munday was one of the most highly respected and beloved residents in the southern part of the county. He was believed to have performed more marriage ceremonies than any other minister in Jackson county. To know him was to love him always. Steadfast, unmovable, abounding in the work of the Lord. A great Bible student, not taught of man but by revelations of Jesus Christ, he was known in several counties of the state for his great interest in the spiritual welfare of all with whom he came in contact and was known in conference as one of the shrewdest preachers. He is dead to us by vision and hearing but is still living in the minds of thousands of people and shall be for many years to come, so let us gird up our loins and continue to fight as he has and when we all shall be gathered at the judgement we shall hear as he ""Enter into the joys of the Lord. Thou hast been faithful over a few things, thou shalt be ruler over many.
