Information: MOUNT ALTO - (WWII Marine veteran)   Reverend Clarence B. Morton, 81, of Mount Alto, WV, departed this life, October 8, 2004, following an extended illness.  He was born July 14, 1923, in Vaughn, Clay County, a son of the late Roy Clyde and Ella (Bennett) Morton.  He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Ethel (Rogers) Morton and a sister, Dayle Marie Burrows.  He was a WWII Marine Corp veteran.  He was save on Christmas Day, 1946 and began his ministry in May of 1947.  He was a graduate of West Virginia State College and the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC.  During his ministry, he was the pastor of churches in Jackson, Raleigh, Taylor, McDowell, Wyoming, Clay, Kanawha and Mason counties.  He was also an educator in the Jackson County school system for 13 years.  Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Eula C. (Anderson) Morton; son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Paul and Jane Morton of Parkersburg; daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Don Blandford of Mount Alto and Susan and Kevin Harrison of Ashland, KY; grandchildren, Catie Casto, Markie Blandford, Maggie Harrison, Samuel Harrison, Simeon Harrison, Michael Whisman and wife, Brandi, and Becki Whisman; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Casto and Allora Whisman; sister, Norma Songer of Charleston; brother-in-law, Rev. Carl Burrows of Mount Hope and his daughters and their families, Becky and Rick Wilson and Barbara and Wally Boyd.  A service was held Sunday, October 10, 2004, at the Calvary United Methodist Church, Ripley, with the Reverend Charles Hicks and the Reverend William Taylor officiating.  In keeping with Reverend Morton's ministry, in lieu of sending flowers to the church, it is the request of the family that they be sent to someone you love.  Casto Funeral Home, Evans, was entrusted with the arrangements.
