Information: Morrison, Claude M. (Huntington, Jan. 9.) Claude M. Morrison, 76, owner of three Huntington stores, died at his home here today, after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held in Huntington Tuesday afternoon. Morrison was president and owner of C. M. Morrison and Son Company, and his son, Donald, is vice president of the company. His brother, Okey J. Morrison (age 80), owns ten stores in the state and has been in the business 60 years. (Friday, 14 Jan 1949) Morrison, Claude Montague Funeral services for Claude Montague Morrison, 76, Huntington retail merchant since 1915, who died at his home in that city on Jan. 9, 1949, were held on the following Monday there and burial was in the Woodmere Cemetery. Mr. Morrison had been in ill health since Sept. 1947 when he suffered a fractured hip. Born at Barboursville on May 13, 1872, a son of Granville Price and Virginia Wolfe Morrison, Claude M. came to Huntington in 1913 and opened his first department store at 2001 8th Avenue. In addition to his brother, Okey J. Morrison of Charleston, he is survived by the widow, Mrs. Marie Bachtel Morrison, a son, Donald B. Morrison; one daughter, Mrs. Lillian Pyle of Huntington, one sister, Mrs. Ella Maddox of Charleston; two half-brothers, Granville P. Morrison and Carroll O. Morrison, both of Huntington, and two half-sisters, Mrs. Arnold Bowens of Washington, DC and Miss Maude Morrison of Huntington. A son, Darrell D. Morrison, died on July 2, 1938.
