Information: STATTS MILL - Ellen Rogers Morris, 74, of Statts Mill, went home to be with God on July 24th, 2011, following a brief illness. She was born on April 11, 1937, daughter of the late William Dorsa Rogers and his wife, Edith Virginia Thomas Rogers. Following graduation from Ripley High School in 1955, she married the love of her life, Bernard W. Morris, on June 19, 1955. Their three children are Teresa Morris Deane, Robin Gail Casto (Dennie) and Bernard W. Morris, Jr. (Julie). Ellen was a storekeeper and U. S. Postmaster until her retirement. She loved cooking, gardening, crocheting, church and her family. She sang gospel music with the Numbers Quartet for many years and led the youth fellowship at Siniaville United Methodist Church where she was a member the past fifty years. In addition to her parents, her husband, Bernard; brothers, Charles Robert and Charles Camden ""Buck"" Rogers; her sister, Ruth Ann Anderson; and several beloved relatives by marriage preceded her in death. In addition to her children, she is survived by eleven grandchildren: Matthew Browning (Robyn), Lia Deane, D. J. Casto, Tebaliah Martindale (Micah), Laura Ellen Blain (Andrew), Hannah Casto, Megan Casto, Cassandra Morris, Tegan Morris, Benjamin Foster Morris, Rowan Morris, and two great-grandchildren, Lillie and Lorelie; brothers, William P. Rogers, and Arthur ""Butch"" Rogers (Madelyn; brother-in-law, Thomas K. Morris (JoAnn); sisters-in-law, Patricia Manery (Chuck) and Elsa Morris; numerous nieces and nephews, and her church family whom she also loved. In keeping with her wishes, her body will be cremated. A memorial service celebrating her life and faith will be held on Saturday, July 30, at 3 p.m. at Siniaville United Methodist Church, Statts Mill, with the Rev. Larry Walker and Rev. Teresa Morris Deane officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Siniaville United Methodist Church or to the Bernard W. and Ellen Morris Memorial Scholarship Fund administered by the United Methodist Foundation, P. O. Box 3811, Charleston WV 25338. Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, is serving the Morris family.
