Information: COMMUNITY AND CIVIC LEADER AND WWII VETERAN RAVENSWOOD-Paul Revere Moore, age 88, of Ravenswood died April 17, 2000, at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley.  He was born in Milton, WV, the son of the late John Wesley and Hattie Susan McGhee Moore. He attended Ravenswood Public Schools and graduated from Marshall University with a Bachelor's degree in 1991 at the age of 79. Paul was a professional photographer with Paul's Studio and Music Store in Ravenswood for many years until his retirement.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ravenswood and was a former Sunday School Teacher.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in the European Theater in World War II, a member of the Ravenswood Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion.  He assisted with numerous civic and school enrichment programs and was a volunteer in the Read-Aloud Program in Ravenswood Schools; a Jackson General Hospital Volunteer; member of the Ravenswood Lions Club; Toastmaster's Club, 14 Club, P. T. Follies, member of the RSVP.  He served as Mayor of Ravenswood, Ravenswood City Council, West Virginia State Senator and a representative to the first Silver-Haired Legislature.  He worked tirelessly on obtaining the William S. Ritchie Bridge, the Five Dollar Banquet, and the Football Stadium Bleachers in Ravenswood. He is survived by his wife Helen Hartley Moore; son, Dr. Dean Wesley Moore of Cincinnati, OH; daughter Dee Ann Moore Simon of Ravenswood; five grandchildren: Paul Moore of Lincoln, NE, Bill Moore of Cincinnati, OH, Melinda Moore Bachstahlre of Scottsdale, AZ, Sean Simon of Spencer, WV and Dr. Heather Simon Smith, South Windsor, CT; six great-grandchildren:  Madison, Monroe, Jack and Martin Moore, Aaron Simon and Jasper Smith; brother J. F. Moore of Ravenswood; three sisters: Mary Stevenson of Ravenswood, Rosie Keister of Huntington, and Daisy Nancarrow of Orlando, FL; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Freeman Moore, and a sister, Pansy Moore Casto. Services will be held today, Wednesday, April 19, 2000 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Ravenswood with the Rev. Ronald Brooks officiating.  Burial will follow at the Ravenswood Cemetery with military rites provided by VFW Post 6669.
