Information: A heart attack at 11:00 o'clock Monday night, proved fatal to Scott Montgomery, widely known insurance man of Ripley, at his North Street home. He was 63 years of age and had been in failing health for some time because of a serious heart condition. For many years, Mr. Montgomery was one of the county's leading school teachers and several years ago he and Mrs. Montgomery moved to Ripley from Cottageville where they had formerly made their home. He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Masons and the Eastern Star. The funeral service will be held from the Epworth Methodist Church in Ripley at 2:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon with the Rev. W. W. Harvey officiating. The Vail Undertakers are in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Reynolds Montgomery; three daughters, Mrs. Fred Kiser of Elizabethtown, Ky., Mrs. Madge Bennett of Ripley and Mrs. Ruby Jordan of Clarksburg and four grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Ranzie Ash of Salem and Mrs. Walter Mitchell and Mrs. Alice Casto, both of Ravenswood. Mr. Montgomery had always been an active participant in public and community affairs, was an outstanding citizen of the community and enjoyed a wide business and social acquaintance among the people. The burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
