Information: Clarence Monroe, 89, died Monday morning at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Huntington after a long illness.  He was born in Roane County,a son of the late Chriss and Minerva McGlothin Monroe.  He was a Navy veteran of World War I, and was retired from the gas and oil industry.  He is survived by several nieces and nephews.  Services were conducted this morning at Straight-Tucker Funeral Home Chapel, with the Evangelist Ron Moyer officiating.  Burial followed in the Ravenswood Cemetery.
