Information: RIPLEY - (Former truck driver) James Ray Mitchell, 80, of Ripley, died Thursday, November 3, 2005, at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley. He was born August 29, 1925 in Winfield, a son of the late Asa and Conway Dodd Mitchell. He was previously employed as a truck driver for Kanawha Block in Charleston. He was a member of Judson Baptist Church in Winfield and attended the Ripley Tabernacle Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Fay Mitchell of Ripley; sons William Richard "" Rick"" Mitchell of Roswell, NM and Charles Ray Mitchell of Manning, SC; daughters Carol Bowles of Ripley and Sharon Clarkson of Polson, MT; step-daughters, Joann Harpold of Weston, WV and Oletia Atkinson of Ripley; brothers, Clyde H. Mitchell of Satellite Beach, FL and A. Clay Mitchell of Ripley; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Carol Mitchell and an infant daughter, Conway Sue Mitchell. Services were held Saturday, November 5, 2005 at Parsons-Waybright Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Siers and Pastor Mike Elder officiating. Burial followed in the Judson Baptist Cemetery, Winfield. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Mission, 700 South Park Road, Charleston, WV 25304 or to Youth Ministry of Ripley Baptist Temple, 330 Third Avenue, Ripley, WV 25271.
