Information: Philba ""P.C."" Miller, 68, of Parkersburg, died April 7, 1988 in St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Jackson County, a son of the late Charley and Blanche McLaughlin Miller. He was a member of Cornerstone Gospel Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a gunner in the 8th Tank Batallion of the 4th Armor Division under Gen. George Patton. He was active in the Battle of the Bulge and the battles of Normandy, northern France and Ardennes of Rhineland. He received decorations in Europe and Africa. He received the Middle East Theater Ribbon with four bronze battle stars, and an American Theatre good conduct medal. He received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, the distinguished unit badge and Victory Medal. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled Veterans. He was a retired builder in Parkersburg. He is survived by his wife of 41 1/2 years, Violet Casto Miller; one foster son, Herbert Mowery of Fort Erwin, Calif.; five brothers, Exmar L. Miller of Parkersburg, Jack D. Miller of Kirksville, Ohio, Herbert E. Miller of Ceredo, Ivan C. Miller of Barberton, Ohio, and George L. Miller of Bradley, Ill.; four sisters, Zelma Louisaeu and Betty Channel, both of Parkersburg, Helen Hinzman and Fanny Jane Hascue, both of Sandyville. Services were held at the Cornerstone Gospel Church with the Rev. Art Wilt officiating. Entombment was in Sunset Memory Gardens. Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, was in charge of arrangements.
