Information: DEATH CLAIMS FORMER MAYOR - John W. Miller, 79, of Ripley, a former Ripley mayor and a retired dairy farmer in Jackson County, died Wednesday at his home of an apparent heart attack.  Miller served four terms as the city's mayor from 1973-1979 and 1981-83.  He was the former owner and operator of Miller Dairy.  Miller was also a member of the board of directors of the Bank of Ripley, a member of the Jackson County Development Authority and the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Association.  He was a Mason, belonging to Ripley Lodge No. 16, and a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church in Ripley.  He attended Ohio University.  Miller was born July 27, 1904 in Jackson County, the son of the late Leander and Jessie Harrison Miller.  He is survived by his wife, Helen Kirk Miller; one daughter, Mrs. Marilyn Bone, Fort Myers Beach, Fla.; a granddaughter, Miss Martha Jane Bone, also of Florida; two sisters, Mrs. Kate M. Kessel of Ripley and Mrs. Luella M. McGraw of Hinton; and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Carol Barnette of Cambridge, Ohio.  Funeral services were held Saturday at the Parsons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris Thompson officiating.  Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery.
