Information: Elton Ray McVaney, 90, of Ravenswood, passed away on August 27 at Marietta-Memorial Hospital, Marietta, Ohio.  He was born January 12, 1922 in Burnsville WV to June B. McVaney and Opal Barker McVaney.  He was a vetern of WWII with the U. S. Coast Guard as well as a machinist/tool and die maker (self-employed).  He was a member of the Ravenswood Church of Christ.  He worked at Hazel-Atlas National Carbon in Clarksburg WV, and he was employed at Kaiser Aluminum from 1958-1982.  After his retirement, he opened McVaney's Machine Shop in Ravenswood.  He was a member of Ashton Lodge #12 of Ravenswood, Nemesis Shriners in Parkersburg WV, was active in various gas engine clubs and several dance clubs.      Surviving relatives are his wife of 41 1/2 years, Jean Wagner McVaney, Ravenswood; son, Randal McVaney and wife Sandra, Cleveland OH; brother, Jude McVaney and wife Betty, Clarksburg WV; four grandchildren, Michelle, Rebecca, Jessica, and Sean; as well as several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Blair McVaney; two sisters, Betty and Willa; and first wife, Sylvia Phillips McVaney.  The service is Friday, August 31, 2012, at 11 am at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood.  Pastor Grady Scott will officiate.  Internment will be at the Ravenswood Cemetery, Ravenswood WV, with Masonic graveside services provided by Ravenswood Ashton Lodge #12 and graveside military rites provided by Ravenswood VFW Post #6669.  Friends may visit the family at the funeral home Thursday, August 30, from 5 to 8 pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Strecker Cancer Center, 400 Matthew Street, Marietta OH 45750.
