Information: Edgar McRa died after a lingering illness from a complication of diseases, Tuesday the 19th, aged 71. Mr. McRa was a native on Monongalia county, but had been a resident of Jackson county since 1872. He served in two different regiments in the Union army in the Civil War, the latter being the 17th West Virginia Infantry and was a non-commissioned officer in Company E of that regiment. He stood high in G. A. R. circles and was widely and favorably known by a large circle of friends. He had been a member of the Methodist church for many years and was known as an active church and Sunday school worker. He had lived in Ripley for over ten years. Mr, McRa married, first, Ann L. Gwyn of Monongalia county. To them were born seven children, four of whom are living. They are Mrs. E. C. Riffe of Sherrard, Darius McRa of Keyser, Miss Mattie McRa of Chicago, and Mrs. Fannie Rhodes of Ripley. All were present at the funeral except Mrs. Riffe. He married second time, Miss Martha B. Cole of this county,in 1902. His brothers living are Elijah McRa of Monongalia county, Rev. T. I. McRa of Scio, Ohio and Duncan McRa of Charleston, the latter of whom is here to attend the funeral. One sister, Miss Jennie McRa,lives in Monongalia county. Funeral exercises were conducted at the home at 2:30 o'clock, Thursday, by Rev. Riffe. The remains were taken to Ravenswood this morning where, after brief funeral exercises were held, were laid to rest in the cemetery at that place.
