Information: MCNEW FUNERAL TO BE HELD IN OSGOOD, INDIANA ON THURSDAY - Funeral services will be held in Osgood, Indiana tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon for Ray F. McNew, who, until overtaken by illness a few months ago, was the manager of the Kroger Store in Ripley, and burial will be in a cemetery in that city which was his native home. Mr. McNew died there on Monday, according to messages received here by friends and by the Kroger company. He had been ill of heart disease for several months and on last Thursday suffered a stroke which left him partially paralyzed and in a serious condition. Coming to Ripley as a stranger to manage the Kroger store, Mr. McNew soon became widely known in the county because of his genial personality and courteous service. Thousands knew him as ""Mac"" and were fearful when he was overtaken by illness that, because of the seriousness of the heart condition, he would not recover. He spent several weeks in a hospital and was later taken to the home of relatives in Osgood where he remained until his death. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Belva McNew, and three children: Rosalee, Donald Ray and Patsy Ann. Although it had been expected, the news of his death Monday afternoon struck business men in Ripley a stunning blow. They had learned to admire the young man who could always be counted upon to render every assistance possible in civic and business proposals, and who always found time in addition to his regular duties to serve his community well. His loss, in addition to being keenly felt by the family and close friends, is also felt in like degree by the people of the business district, and by hundreds throughout Jackson county who knew him as a courteous, obliging friend.
