Information: Sam A. McMurray, 84, of Route 1, Ravenswood, died at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, Friday morning following a short illness. He and his wife would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, May 8. He was born in Ravenswood, a son of the late John Lindsey and Ida Watkins McMurray. He was a member of the Silverton United Methodist Church, a Mason and a Shriner, an Army veteran of World War I, a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and was retired from World Insurance Co. of Baltimore, Md. Surviving are his wife, Faye Glover McMurray; two sisters, Mrs. Josephine VanKirk and Mrs. Nellie Nicholson, both of Ravenswood; two brothers, Chester McMurray of Florida and Elmer McMurray of Ravenswood. He was preceded in death by a son and three brothers. Services were Sunday in Straight-Tucker Funeral Home, Ravenswood, with the Rev. Paul Morrison and the Rev. Loris Pullins officiating. Burial was in Ravenswood Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites.
