Information: MRS. MCKOWN DIES IN HAINES CITY - Verda Odessa McKown, wife of Harry McKown, died at Haines City, Florida on May 26 after an illness of several months following a stroke.  She was a daughter of Joseph and Rosa Crawford and was born near Ripley on May 13, 1886.  She was 77 years and 13 days of age at the time of death.  The funeral service was held in Haines City on May 29 with Rev. Charles L. Roberts officiating and burial was in a cemetery there.  Survivors include her husband, Harry McKown; a son, Kenneth, who lives in Baltimore; and a daughter, Elizabeth Barker, who resides in Texas.  She was a sister of the late Virgil Crawford of Ripley.  The McKown family left here a number of years ago and for a time lived in Greenfield, Ohio before going to Florida where they had since resided.
