Information: COTTAGEVILLE RESIDENT HAD 106 SURVIVORS - William Melvin McIntyre, 97, died at his home at Cottageville, Saturday, Jan. 21.  He was born Oct. 24, 1880, at Alvy, W. Va., the son of the late Enoch and Sarah (Keller) McIntyre.  He moved to Jackson County from Tyler County in 1889 and was united in marriage to Dorma Ferguson in 1903, who preceded him in death in 1942. Mr. McIntyre leaves 106 descendants.  He is survived by four daughters, Florence Burnside of Middlesboro, Ky., Ruth Tolley of Melbourne, Fla., Eloise McIntyre of Cottageville, and Alice Gunter of Birch River, W. Va.; three sons, Jennings of Clarksburg, Enoch of Cottageville, and Kenneth of Ripley; one brother, John of Orlando, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Mary Farrell of Chillicothe, Ohio; 22 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by two daughters: Opal McIntyre and Madoline Karr and one son, Paul McIntyre.  Mr. McIntyre worked for the Thew Shovel Company for 30 years as a heavy construction equipment engineer and sales representative.  During this period he worked in every state in th U. S. and in Canada.  In the early 1900's he worked in the oil and gas fields and was a sawmill operator throughout most of West Virginia.  He operated heavy equipment during the consturction of I-77 near Ripley at the age of 85. His employers were reportedly disappointed when he decided to retire.  He was also a member of the Angerona Church of Christ which he assisted his father in building, who later became the minister of the church.  Funeral services were held Monday, 1:00 p.m. at the Casto Funeral Home in Evans, with Evangelist William Hopkins officiating.  Burial followed in the Angerona Church of Christ Cemetery.
